A Few of My Favorite Things (on Amazon)

The theme of this post is dedicated to my BFF Alicia, who unfortunately passed away at the age of 38 in 2014 (I think that was the year… I seriously can’t ever remember).

One time, at band camp (#IYKYK), we met outside an audition room at The University of Florida and immediately clicked. We were THE best of friends until the day she died. Maybe one day I’ll write more about her. Honestly, she played a part in my becoming an NTP, so sharing some about her would make sense. But for now, here’s just a little tidbit.

Alicia was an avid movie-watcher. AVID. After I had my daughters she brought up watching The Sound of Music with them. That’s when I told her I’d never seen it. Alicia was rarely speechless, but at that moment she had no words. When she got over her shock she did, in fact, watch the movie with my girls. Without me, so I STILL hadn’t seen it.

Fast forward to after she passed, and I watched it for the first with my youngest daughter. I understood her love for it and finally got some context for the iconic song, “My Favorite Things.” Since then I think of her every time I hear it, and the lyrics immediately popped into my head for this very post MONTHS ago when I originally considered the possibility of making a list of my favorite things on Amazon.
